Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas Review

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas is a fantastically twisted journey to search for the American Dream. Adapted wonderfully from Hunter S. Thompson's book with the same title, the movie focuses on a crusader journalist (Raoul Duke) and his maniacal lawyer (Dr. Gonzo). The two embark on this odyssey well prepared with a briefcase fully loaded with, " two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers, and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls."  What is supposed to be a job to cover a motorcycle race in the desert of Las Vegas, turns into an entertaining trip through sin city. Duke and Gonzo manage to obliterate two hotel rooms, ruin two rental cars, and reign hilarious terror on the city of lights in this must see film from the criterion collection starring Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro.
